  • a memory for storing dimensions of a representation of a patient'"'"'s residual limb;

    a means for obtaining a desired thickness of the socket;

    a means for obtaining dimensions of a preform cone;

    a memory containing software instructions programmed to calculate the dimensions of a proximate extension to be added to a positive representation of the patient'"'"'s residual limb based upon the dimensions of the representation of the patient'"'"'s residual limb, the dimensions of the preform cone and the desired thickness of the socket; and

    a processing circuit, having access to the dimensions of the representation of the patient'"'"'s residual limb, the dimensions of the preform cone and the desired thickness of the socket, for executing the software program.
