1. A lubricant or functional fluid composition, comprising a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity and a minor anti-wear amount of:

  • (A) a metal, amine or ammonium salt of a compound represented by the formula ##STR14## wherein in Formula (A-I), X1, X2 and X3 and X4 are independently O or S, X1 and X2 can be NR3, a and b are independently zero or 1, and R1, R2 and R3 are independently hydrocarbyl groups and R3 can be hydrogen; and

    (B) a thiocarbamate compound represented by the formula ##STR15## wherein in Formula (B-I), R1, R2, and R3 are independently alkyl groups of 1 to about 4 carbon atoms;

    said lubricant or functional fluid being characterized by a phosphorus content of up to about 0. 1% by weight.
