1. A portable radio device, comprising:

  • a housing, electrically divided along a horizontal plane into an upper portion and a lower portion in order to lessen influence of the housing exerted upon electromagnetic waves surrounding the housing;

    an antenna for transmitting and receiving an electromagnetic wave, the antenna being connected to the upper portion of the housing and extending in a vertical direction; and

    conductor wires provided between the upper portion and the lower portion of the housing for electrically coupling the upper and lower portions,wherein the upper portion and the lower portion of the housing are spatially separated from each other by a horizontal gap, andwherein the upper portion is approximately a quarter wavelength long in the vertical direction, and the conductor wires are disposed at a distance of approximately a quarter wavelength from a side edge of the lower portion.
