1. A bed comprising:
- a first frame having a longitudinal length and a transverse width;
first, second, and third support assemblies supported by the first frame; and
a second frame supported by the first, second, and third support assemblies, each support assembly having a load cell for sensing a portion of the weight supported by the first frame, the first support assembly being aligned transversely with the second support assembly and the third support assembly being offset longitudinally and transversely with respect to the first and second support assemblies.

10. A bed comprising:
-
a first frame; a plurality of support units supported by the first frame; a second frame supported by the plurality of support units, each support unit having a load cell for sensing a portion of the weight supported by the first frame; and a circuit coupled to the plurality of support units, the circuit being responsive to the weight sensed by the plurality of load cells, the circuit including a processor configured to determine a ratio having a numerator defined by a formula in which the weight sensed by a first of the plurality of load cells is subtracted from the weight sensed by at least a second of the plurality of load cells and having a denominator corresponding to the sum of the weights sensed by the plurality of load cells. - View Dependent Claims (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16)

-
a first frame; a plurality of support units supported by the first frame; a second frame supported by the plurality of support units, each support unit having a load cell for sensing a portion of the weight supported by the first frame; and a circuit coupled to the plurality of support units to receive input signals therefrom, the circuit including an exit alarm and a pre-exit alarm, the circuit further including a processor that activates the exit alarm when the input signals correspond to a first condition and that activates the pre-exit alarm when the input signals correspond to a second condition. - View Dependent Claims (18)

19. A weigh system for use on a bed including a first frame and a second frame, the weigh system consisting essentially of
first, second, and third support units supported by the first frame and supporting the second frame, each support unit sensing a portion of the weight supported by the first frame and generating a respective input signal; - and
a circuit coupled to the first, second, and third support units to receive the input signals therefrom, the circuit being configured to determine the weight of a person supported by the bed. - View Dependent Claims (20, 21, 22)
