A method for reducing free radical damage induced by tobacco products and environmental pollutants comprising administering in a suitable carrier in concentrations for effectively reducing said free radical damage to the oro-pharynx and upper respiratory tract of a user a combination of from 0.01 and 10% (weight) glutathione, from 1.0 to 25% (weight) ascorbic acid, from 0.001 to 10% (weight) of a source of selenium and from 0.001 to 2.0% (weight) of a sulphur containing amino acid.
