a polyaromatic ether coated on said electrode, said polyaromatic ether having the formula ##STR5## wherein n is a finite integer greater than 0, A is selected from the group consisting of sulfonic acid and carboxylic acid groups and B and C are selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl and phenyl groups,said polyaromatic ether being coated on the electrode to form an ion-selective electrode having an ion-exchange capacity of 1.5-1.9 meq/g and a resistivity less than 1.2Ω
/cm2.
