1. A hybrid powertrain assembly for a vehicle comprising:
- a voltage bus operable using a predetermined voltage level that is more than 750 volts and within a predetermined voltage range;
a generator operatively connected to said voltage bus for generating power and transferring said power with said voltage bus independently of said voltage level;
a traction motor operatively connected with said voltage bus, said traction motor transferring power with said voltage bus independently of said voltage level;
a flywheel assembly operatively connected with said voltage bus, said flywheel assembly transferring power with said voltage bus based on the voltage level; and
a capacitor bank operatively connected to said voltage bus, said capacitor bank maintaining the voltage of said voltage bus in said predetermined voltage range during driving conditions of said vehicle and after starting of said vehicle.

A hybrid powertrain assembly includes a voltage bus which is operable using a predetermined voltage level within a predetermined voltage range, a generator operatively connected to the voltage bus for generating power and bilaterally transferring the power with the voltage bus independently of the voltage level, a traction motor operatively connected with the voltage bus, the traction motor bilaterally transferring power with the voltage bus independently of the voltage level, and a flywheel assembly operatively connected with the voltage bus, the flywheel assembly bilaterally transferring power with the voltage bus based on the voltage level.

a voltage bus operable using a predetermined voltage level that is more than 750 volts and within a predetermined voltage range; a generator operatively connected to said voltage bus for generating power and transferring said power with said voltage bus independently of said voltage level, said generator maintaining a substantially constant output during normal driving conditions of said vehicle; a traction motor operatively connected with said voltage bus, said traction motor transferring power with said voltage bus independently of said voltage level; a flywheel assembly operatively connected with said voltage bus, said flywheel assembly connected with said voltage bus, said flywheel assembly transferring power with said power transfer based on the voltage level; a power controller in electrical communication with said generator, said traction motor and said flywheel assembly such that said power controller sends charging and discharging command signals to said flywheel assembly such that said generator maintains a constant output; and a capacitor bank operatively connected to said voltage bus, said capacitor bank to maintain the voltage of said voltage bus in said predetermined voltage range for enabling said flywheel assembly to transfer power using said voltage bus during driving conditions of said vehicle and after starting of said vehicle. - View Dependent Claims (5, 6, 7, 8, 9)

10. A hybrid powertrain assembly for a motor vehicle comprising:

a voltage bus operable using a predetermined voltage level that is more than 750 volts and within a predetermined voltage range; a generator operatively connected to said voltage bus for generating power and transferring said power with said voltage bus independently of said voltage level, said generator maintains a substantially constant output during normal driving conditions of said vehicle; a traction motor operatively connected with said voltage bus, said traction motor transferring power with said voltage bus independently of said voltage level, said traction motor output dependent on the needs of said vehicle; a flywheel assembly operatively connected with said voltage bus, said flywheel assembly connected with said voltage bus, said flywheel assembly transferring power with said power transfer based on the voltage level; a power controller in electrical communication with said generator, said traction motor and said flywheel assembly such that said power controller sends charging and discharging command signals to said flywheel assembly based on said voltage level of said voltage bus; and a capacitor bank having a voltage that is substantially similar to the predetermined voltage level of said voltage bus and operatively connected to said voltage bus, said capacitor bank maintaining the voltage of said voltage bus in said predetermined voltage range for enabling said flywheel assembly to transfer power using said voltage bus during driving conditions and after starting of said vehicle.
