1. A system for detecting an object present in a turbid medium comprising:

  • a radiation source for irradiating a turbid medium with radiation comprising radiation components of a first and a second wavelength, wherein the radiation components of the first and second wavelength are modulated with amplitude modulation at substantially equal modulation frequencies, the amplitude modulation of the radiation components of the first and second wavelength having a predetermined and fixed phase difference, anda photodetector arranged to detect an intensity signal of radiation emerging from the turbid medium.
