1. A computerized method for naming resources in a distributed computing environment wherein the resource is represented by a combination of code and data which is evaluated at a client, the method comprising the steps of:

  • issuing a resource request from the client to a server;

    delivering from the server to the client a reference to the resource, wherein the reference includes the code and the data; and

    evaluating and resolving the code and the data at the client to obtain a resource name.
