1. A liquid crystal display comprising:

  • first and second substantially transparent substrates;

    a liquid crystal layer disposed between said first and second substrates;

    a photo-imaged light diffuser layer disposed bewteen said liquid crystal layer and said second substrate, wherein said light diffuser layer includes a photo-imageable host material portion that is substantially transparent to at least one visible wavelength of light and a plurality of substantially spherical diffusing particles embedded in the host material portion; and

    the host material having a refractive index of nh and the diffusing particles having a refractive index of np, and wherein Δ

    n is greater than or equal to about 0.05, where Δ

    n=np -nh.
