1. A camera stabilization device comprising:
- inner means for supporting a camera, said inner means having a roll axis about which said inner means rotates;
outer means for supporting said camera, said outer means at least partially surrounding and rotatably engaging said inner means;
means for coupling said outer means to a camera support structure;
means for determining the roll rate of said inner means about said roll axis thereof;
means for controlling the roll rate of said inner means about said roll axis thereof, said means being responsive to said means for determining said roll rate;
wherein said inner and outer means comprise hoop brackets, and wherein said means for controlling the roll rate of said inner means comprises a motor and transmission means coupled to said motor for driving said inner means;
wherein said motor is affixed to said outer means; and
wherein said transmission means comprise a gear coupled to said motor and a chain which engages said gear and said inner means.

an inner bracket, said inner bracket having a roll axis about which said inner bracket rotates; an outer bracket, said outer bracket at least partially surrounding and rotatably engaging said inner bracket; a camera support structure; a coupler connecting said outer bracket to said camera support structure; an inner bracket roll rate sensor; and an inner bracket roll rate controller responsive to the inner bracket roll rate sensor; wherein said camera support structure is selected from the group consisting of a body-mounted camera stabilization device, a motorized vehicle, a non-motorized mobile apparatus and an immobile apparatus; and wherein said camera support structure is a body-mounted camera stabilization device that comprises a central post having a pan axis, and wherein said outer bracket is coupled to said camera support structure central post by said coupler such that said pan axis of said central post is perpendicular to said roll axis of said inner bracket.
