1. A method of inhibiting sprout formation in tubers during storage and post-storage comprising:

  • a) applying a first treatment of DMN at an application rate of less than about 20 ppm to effect a residue on said potatoes of about 0.5 ppm to about 2 ppm to the potatoes while said potatoes are still healing cuts and bruises;

    b) applying a first treatment of CIPC to the potatoes after healing has occurred in an amount to form a residue of about at least about 4 ppm after said first DMN treatment; and

    c) applying a second treatment of DMN at an application rate of less than about 20 ppm to the potatoes after said CIPC treatment to effect a residue on said potatoes of about 0.5 ppm to about 2 ppm.
