1. An organic EL device comprising an anode, a cathode, and an organic electroluminescent element between the anode and the cathode;

  • the organic electroluminescent element includes an organic material or a mixture thereof having the structure;

    ##STR19## wherein;

    substituents R1, R2, R3, and R4 are each individually selected from the following groups consisting of;

    Group 1;

    hydrogen, or alkyl of from 1 to 24 carbon atoms;

    Group 2;

    aryl or substituted aryl of from 5 to 20 carbon atoms;

    Group 3;

    carbon atoms necessary to complete a fused aromatic ring of naphthyl, anthracenyl, pyrenyl, or perylenyl;

    Group 4;

    heteroaryl or substituted heteroaryl of from 5 to 24 carbon atoms;

    Group 5;

    a fused heteroaromatic ring of furyl, thienyl, pyridyl, or quinolinyl;

    Group 6;

    alkoxyl, amino, alkyl amino, or aryl amino group of from 1 to 24 carbon atoms; and

    Group 7;

    fluorine, chlorine, bromine or cyano.
