A device for exerting an external pressure on a part of a human body comprising a garment being adapted to surround the body part in a form-fitting manner and including at least one component of memory material which, by heating, changes its shape so as to bring about a contraction of said garment and, by cooling, returns to a previous shape so as to interrupt said contraction.
