1. A vehicle generator controller for regulating a voltage output by a generator for charging a battery mounted on a vehicle, comprising:

  • battery voltage detection means for detecting the drop of the voltage of the battery;

    a switching element for controlling the field current of the generator;

    gradual increase control means for gradually increasing the field current by intermittently operating said switching element when the battery voltage is lowered to thereby gradually increasing the current generated by the generator; and

    gradual increase prohibition means for outputting a conducing signal for canceling the gradual increase control at the beginning of the drop of the battery voltage, wherein when the battery voltage drops, the conducting ratio of said switching element is set to 100% and thereafter the field current is gradually increased.
