1. A short range, wireless point to multipoint transmission system comprising:
- a nodal transmitter means providing omnidirectional coverage and including one or more transmitters located at a common point within a node, each tansmitter means being adapted to broadcast over a same given frequency band;
a plurality of unidirectional transmitting antennas coupled to said transmitter means and positioned at said common point and arranged to radiate a given frequency band over different coverage areas of said omnidirectional coverage of said node, each area of coverage having at least a 45°
beam width, said transmitting antennas at said common point each comprising a plurality of linear arrays of radiating elements at said common point and including a polarizer and being of either one of two polarization types such that the polarization of the transmitted signal at said given frequency band alternates about the node, further comprising a phase shifter between each radiating element of each linear array.

Abstract
A point-to-multipoint or two-way communications system is provided by a nodal transmitter located in a node with a plurality of nodal antennas radiating different polarization signals about the node. The system includes subscriber stations with directional antennas adapted to receive signals radiated from the nodal transmitter. The system may additionally include capability for transmitting and radiating subscriber signals to the nodal transmitter location for two-way communications.

8. A low power, short range wireless point to multipoint transmission system comprising:
a nodal transmitter means providing omnidirectional coverage and including one or more transmitters located at a common point within a node; and
a plurality of transmitting antennas coupled to said transmitter means and positioned and arranged to radiate over different coverage areas of said omnidirectional coverage of said node, each area of coverage having at least a 45°
beam width, each of said transmitting antennas at said common point comprising a plurality of linear arrays of radiating elements at said common point and including polarizers and being of either one of two polarization types such that the polarization of the transmitted signal alternates about the node;
said transmitter means comprises means for generating a like set of carrier frequencies for each of said antennas, means for modulating said carrier frequencies with signal intelligence for a specific coverage area of the node whereby spacial, frequency and polarization reuse is provided, and further comprising a phase shifter between each radiating element of each linear array.- View Dependent Claims (9, 10, 11, 12, 13)
