A method for enhancing engraftment of hematopoietic progenitor cells in an individual in need thereof which comprises administering to said individual (i) isolated, homogeneous mesenchymal stem cells and (ii) hematopoietic progenitor cells, wherein said mesenchymal stem cells are administered in an amount effective to promote engraftment of said hematopoietic progenitor cells in said individual.
