Abstract
Alternatively displaying links within a hypertext document such as the World Wide Web document on the Internet is accomplished. The movement and presentation of the cursor is used to indicate the presence of the links and means of traversing the links. The cursor is presented in a first manner while the cursor is over nonlink elements in the first page. As the cursor is moved over the link, the cursor is presented in a second manner indicating to a user how to traverse to the second page. In a preferred embodiment, the cursor, when presented in the second manner, includes characters from a first key on an input device which when activated will cause the computer to traverse to the second page.
