First Claim
1. An ultrasonic operation apparatus comprising a handpiece serving as a surgical tool and an apparatus body including a power source unit for supplying electric power to the handpiece, wherein:
- the handpiece is exchangeably attachable to and detachable from the apparatus body, and comprises (i) an ultrasonic oscillation element for producing an ultrasonic oscillation, (ii) a probe for transmitting the ultrasonic oscillation to a region of interest, and (iii) signal outputting means for outputting a signal corresponding to an initial resonant frequency inherent in the ultrasonic oscillation element and hence the probe; and
the power source unit includes (i) power amplifying means for receiving the signal output by the signal outputting means of the handpiece, for amplifying the received signal, and for generating a corresponding drive signal, and (ii) connecting/transmitting means for transmitting the corresponding drive signal to the handpiece.

Abstract
An ultrasonic operation apparatus performs a treatment through the utilization of an ultrasonic oscillation and comprises a handpiece serving as a surgical tool and an apparatus body including a power source unit for supplying electric power to the handpiece. The handpiece is exchangeably attachable to, and detachable from, the apparatus body. The handpiece comprises an ultrasonic oscillation element for generating an ultrasonic oscillation, a probe for transmitting the ultrasonic oscillation which is generated from the ultrasonic oscillation element to a region of interest of a human being and a signal generating unit for generating a signal corresponding to a resonant frequency inherent in the ultrasonic oscillation element and hence the probe. The power source unit includes a power amplifying unit for receiving a signal corresponding to the resonant frequency inherent in the handpiece from the signal generation unit of the handpiece, amplifying the signal and generating a corresponding drive signal, and a connecting/transmitting unit for transmitting the corresponding drive signal which is generated at the power amplifying unit to the handpiece.

15. An ultrasonic drive device which is detachably connectable to a handpiece having a probe and an ultrasonic oscillation element for driving the probe, said ultrasonic drive device comprising:
