Abstract

A pager comprises a receiver for receiving an image designating code together with a message, a display section, a memory for storing a plurality of images, and a CPU for, based on the image designating code received by the receiver, selecting an associated image and displaying the image together with the message on the display section. When a ringing signal transmitted from a base station is directed to this pager, the pager acquires a subsequent message and displays the associated image together with the message when the message contains an image designating code.

Claims

1. A communication terminal comprising:

a receiving section for receiving an image designating code;

a display for displaying images;

an image storage section for storing plural sets of images being assigned with designating codes, respectively; and

display control means for reading from said image storage section a plurality of images included in the set of images corresponding to the image designating code received by said receiving section, and sequentially displaying said plurality of images on said display.

2. A communication terminal according to claim 1, wherein said image designating code comprises any one of a dynamic picture designating code and a portrait designating code.

3. A communication terminal comprising:

a receiving section for receiving a message comprised of a plurality of words;

a detector for detecting a predetermined word in the message received by said receiving section;

an image storage section for storing a plurality of images to which image designating codes are assigned;

a display for displaying the received message and an image; and

display control means for reading an image corresponding to the detected word from said image storage section when said detector detects said predetermined word in the received message, and displaying the read image and all of the received message including said predetermined word itself on said display.

4. A communication terminal according to claim 3, wherein said display control means distinguishes said predetermined word in the message when the received message is displayed on said display.

A communication terminal according to claim 3, wherein, when said detector detects a plurality of predetermined words in the message received by said receiving section said display control means sequentially reads plural images corresponding to the detected a plurality of predetermined word from said image storage section and sequentially displays the read plural images together with the received message on said display.

A communication terminal according to claim 5, wherein, when the received message and any one of the plural images corresponding to the detected a plurality of predetermined word are displayed on said display, said display control means distinguishes the predetermined word corresponding to a displayed image.

7. A communication system comprising:

an input section for inputting a message including at least one of characters, numerals and symbols;

a transmission section for converting said message, input through said input section, to a signal of a predetermined format and transmitting said signal; and

a communication terminal for receiving said signal transmitted from said transmission section, determining if said signal is directed to said communication terminal itself, and obtaining and displaying said message when determining that said signal is directed to said communication terminal itself;

said input section inputting a message including an image designating code for designating a display image;

said communication terminal including;

a receiving section for receiving said message;

a display for displaying an image;

a detecting section for detecting said image designating code from said message received by said receiving section;

an image storage section for storing a plurality of images to which designating codes are assigned; and

display control means for selecting an image corresponding to the image designating code, included in the message received by said receiving section, from said plurality of images stored in said image storage section, based on said image designating code, and displaying said image on said display, and

wherein;

said image designating code comprises a pattern designating code for designating a pattern of each part constituting an image;

said input section sequentially inputs pattern designating codes designating patterns of individual parts constituting an image to be displayed at a destination communication terminal;

said image storage section stores said patterns of individual parts constituting said image; and

said display control means reads patterns of individual parts from said image storage section to form an image in accordance with said pattern designating codes received by said receiving section, and displays said image constructed with a plurality of read patterns on said display.

8. A communication system comprising:

an input section for inputting a message including at least one of characters, numerals and symbols;

a transmission section for converting said message, input through said input section, to a signal of a predetermined format and transmitting said signal; and

a communication terminal for receiving said signal transmitted from said transmission section, determining if said signal is directed to said communication terminal itself, and obtaining and displaying said message when determining that said signal is directed to said communication terminal itself;

said input section inputting a message including an image designating code for designating a display image;

said communication terminal including;

a receiving section for receiving said message;

a display for displaying an image;

a detecting section for detecting said image designating code from said message received by said receiving section;

an image storage section for storing a plurality of images to which designating codes are assigned; and

display control means for selecting an image corresponding to the image designating code, included in the message received by said receiving section, from said plurality of images stored in said image storage section, based on said image designating code, and displaying said image on said display, and

wherein said image designating code comprises at least one function bit included in said signal of said predetermined format or command data for designating a display mode.

9. A communication system comprising:

an input section for inputting a message including at least one of characters, numerals and symbols;

a transmission section for converting said message, input through said input section, to a signal of a predetermined format and transmitting said signal; and

a communication terminal for receiving said signal transmitted from said transmission section, determining if said signal is directed to said communication terminal itself, and obtaining and displaying said message when determining that said signal is directed to said communication terminal itself;

said input section inputting a message including an image designating code for designating a display image;

said communication terminal including;

a receiving section for receiving said message and said image designating code;

a display for displaying an image;

a detecting section for detecting said image designation code from said message received by said receiving section;

an image storage section for storing a plurality of images to which designating codes are assigned; and

display control means for selecting an image corresponding to the image designating code, included in message received by said receiving section, from said plurality of images stored in said image storage section, based on said image designating code, and displaying said image on said display, and

wherein said image is at least one of a portrait of a sender, a portrait for transmitting a feeling of a sender, a picture image indicative of urgency and/or importance of a message, and a picture image indicative of a business matter.

10. A communication terminal comprising:

a receiving section for receiving data including an image designating code;

a display for displaying data;

an image storage section for storing a plurality of images to which image designating codes are assigned, respectively;

a control data storage section for storing control data for controlling a display of the image stored in the image storage section; and

display control means for reading out an image corresponding to the designating code received by the receiving section, from the image storage section, and for displaying the read out image in accordance with the display control data on the display.

11. A communication system comprising:

an input section for inputting a message including at least one of characters, numerals and symbols;

a transmission section for converting said message, input through said input section, to a signal of a predetermined format and transmitting said signal; and

a communication terminal for receiving said signal transmitted from said transmission section, determining if said signal is directed to said communication terminal itself, and obtaining and displaying said message when determining that said signal is directed to said communication terminal itself;

said input section inputting a message including an image designating code for designating a display image;

said communication terminal including;

a receiving section for receiving said message and said image designating code;

a receiving section for receiving data including an image designating code;

a display for displaying data;

an image storage section for storing a plurality of images to which image designating codes are assigned, respectively;

a control data storage section for storing control data for controlling a display of the image stored in the image storage; and

display control means for reading out an image corresponding to the designating code received by the receiving section, from the image storage section, and for displaying the read out image in accordance with the display control data on the display.

12. A communication terminal comprising:

image preparing means for preparing images;

display means for displaying an image prepared by said image preparing means;

converting means for converting the prepared image to a dial data for displaying the prepared image on another communication terminal; and

display control means for displaying the dial data on the display means.

13. A communication terminal according to claim 12, further comprising:

message preparing means for preparing a message;

second display control means for displaying the message together with the prepared image on said display means;

second converting means for converting the message to a dial data for displaying the prepared message on another communication terminal; and

third display control means for displaying the dial data for displaying the message together with the dial data for displaying the image on the display means.

14. A communication terminal comprising:

image preparing means for preparing images;

display means for displaying an image prepared by said image preparing means;

converting means for converting the prepared image to a dial data for displaying the prepared image on another communication terminal; and

transmitting means for transmitting the dial data to another communication terminal.

15. A communication terminal according to claim 14, further comprising:

message preparing means for preparing a message;

second converting means for converting the message to a dial data for displaying the prepared message on another communication terminal; and

third transmitting means for transmitting the dial data for displaying the message together with the dial data for displaying the image on the display means.
