1. A method for multiplexing the identification of more than one DNA tandem nucleotide repeat region from more than one DNA tandem nucleotide repeat loci, comprising:

  • obtaining more than one nucleic acid extension product by extending one or more primers complementary to sequences flanking the DNA tandem nucleotide repeat region, and;

    determining the masses of more than one nucleic acid extension product simultaneously by mass spectrometry,wherein the nucleic acid extension products have overlapping allelic mass ranges.
