1. A method of manufacturing a cylindrical, non-magnetic elongated pipe that can be detected by a magnetic field detection device when said pipe is otherwise hidden from view, comprising the steps of:

  • extruding a continuous length of hollow pipe having an annular wall of constant, uniform thickness whereby the wall is provided with at least one longitudinally extending groove in the exterior surface thereof and a corresponding inwardly directed projection at the interior surface thereof aligned with said at least one groove to maintain said constant wall thickness along the length of said pipe; and

    fixing a plurality of elements of high strength magnetic material within said at least one groove, said elements being spaced apart longitudinally along said at least one groove.
