1. A liquid crystal display device comprising:

  • a pair of substrates;

    a liquid crystal layer interposed between said pair of substrates;

    a video signal line and scanning signal line formed on one of said pair of substrates and crossing each other in a matrix form;

    a plurality of pixels formed by adjoining said video signal lines and said scanning signal lines; and

    a pixel electrode and counter electrode arranged in said plurality of pixels, respectively;

    wherein a transparent electrically conductive layer is formed over one of said pair of substrates at a viewed side of said liquid crystal display device which is opposite to the liquid crystal layer side; and

    wherein said counter electrode is adjacent to said video signal line.
