1. An asymmetrical high frequency communication system for tracking an asset comprising:

  • a message preparation and transmitter subsystem onboard the asset for selecting a predetermined number of different transmission channels randomly or pseudorandomly and performing radiometric measurements on each of the selected channels and, for those channels where a radiometric measurement exceeds a predetermined threshold, randomly or pseudorandomly selecting an alternative channel and performing a radiometric measurement, and thereafter sequentially transmitting a message on the selected channels and any selected alternative channels, thereby providing frequency diversity; and

a receiving subsystem responsive to said message preparation and transmitter subsystems and having a plurality of spatially separated receiver sites located at various geographical points so as to provide spatial diversity; and

a common processing center, said sites being linked to said common processing center.
