1. An industrial viewing station for inspection of defects in a vehicle surface to be examined;

  • said industrial viewing station comprising;

    a) a visual surround defining an interior sized to receive at least a portion of the vehicle;

    i) said visual surround covering the interior in order to selectively control entry of outside light into the interior and to selectively control internal luminance;

    b) a lighting arrangement having;

    a first selected lighting condition and a second selected lighting condition;

    i) said first selected lighting condition comprising at least one(A) point source lighting;

    (B) linear source lighting; and

    (C) area source lighting selectively orientable to provide generally uniform illuminance of an area in which the vehicle is positioned for examination;

    ii) said second selected lighting condition comprising at least one of;

    (A) point source lighting;

    (B) linear source lighting; and

    (C) area source lighting selectively orientable to provide generally uniform illuminance of an area in which the vehicle is positioned for examination; and

    c) a control system for selectively activating said first selected lighting condition and said second selected lighting condition.
