1. A control system for controlling a power takeoff shaft of a work vehicle, the work vehicle configured for travel across a work surface and having an operator station, the control system comprising:

  • a remote switch located remotely from the operator station to generate at least one remote switch signal;

    a vehicle speed sensor to provide a vehicle speed signal representative of a speed of the work vehicle relative to the work surface; and

    a control circuit coupled to the remote switch and the vehicle speed sensor, the control circuit controlling the operation of the power takeoff shaft dependent upon the remote switch signal when the vehicle speed is below a predetermined vehicle speed and controlling the operation of the power takeoff shaft independent of the remote switch signal when the vehicle speed is above the predetermined vehicle speed.
