1. A method for enhanced transport of a molecule into or through skin, comprising the steps:

  • permeabilizing the skin by applying low frequency ultrasound to the area of the skin where permeabilization is desired, wherein the frequency of the ultrasound is between about 20 kHz and 1 MHz;

    subsequently applying a driving force to extract analyte molecules through or to deliver drug molecules into the skin over a period of time following the permeabilization without repermeabilizing the skin.
