Abstract

The invention relates to a cellulase enzyme, elgA, isolated from the fungus Piromyces rhizinflata and nucleic acids encoding it.

Claims

1. An isolated nucleic acid encoding a polypeptide, the amino acid sequence of which is at least 95% identical to SEQ ID NO:

4, wherein said polypeptide hydrolyzes a polysaccharide containing a β

-1,3′

or β

-1,4′

glycosidic linkage.
