1. A fingerprint imaging system, comprising:
- a light source;
an optical platen having a light receiving surface positioned such that light from the light source impinges thereon, and a finger receiving surface positioned such that light from the light source passing through the light receiving surface impinges on the finger receiving surface;
a light detector positioned relative to the platen to receive light from the light source reflected from the finger receiving surface; and
wherein the light receiving surface of the platen is textured to avoid internal reflection of external light passing through the finger receiving surface and impinging on the light receiving surface.

Abstract
A fingerprint imaging system includes a light source, an optical platen having a light receiving face positioned such that the light from the source impinges thereon, and a finger receiving face positioned such that light from the light source through the light receiving face impinges on the finger receiving face. A light detector is positioned to receive light from the light source reflected from the finger receiving face. The light receiving surface of the platen is configured to avoid reflection of external light passing through the finger receiving face and impinging on the light receiving face.
