A cylindrical device for detecting the presence, or absence, of a target molecule in a biological sample contained in a sample collection unit, the device comprising a biocompatible attachment and at least one reaction chamber, wherein the reaction chamber comprises at least one breakable barrier and at least one compartment containing a primer or probe for detecting the presence, or absence, of the target molecule, and further comprising within a cylindrical apparatus capable of circular rotation about a central axis, wherein the apparatus comprises a piston or plunger capable of ingress or egress through the at least one compartment.
