1. An optical cable for installation in a wiring channel having two mutually perpendicular surfaces and containing at least one electric cable therein, the optical cable comprising:
- at least one optical fiber; and
a cover surrounding said at least one optical fiber, the cover having an outer surface which in cross-section is in a shape of a trapezoid formed by removing a right-angled isosceles corner region from a right-angled isosceles triangle, whereby the cover has two non-adjacent mutually perpendicular side faces, the non-adjacent mutually perpendicular side faces fitting flush against respective ones of the mutually perpendicular surfaces of the wiring channel so that the optical cable fits into a dead space formed between the mutually perpendicular surfaces of the wiring channel and the at least one electric cable.

Abstract
In an optical cable, at least one optical fiber is enclosed in a cover. The cover has an outer surface which in cross-section is in the shape of a trapezium formed by removing the right-angled isosceles corner region from a right-angled isosceles triangle. The optical cable can be installed running along a corner with its two perpendicular side faces lying against the surfaces which define the corner. Alternatively, the cable can be installed on a flat surface with the wider of the mutually parallel faces lying against the flat surface.

5. A method of laying an optical cable along a wiring channel, the wiring channel including a corner region having a right-angled corner extending in a longitudinal direction of the wiring channel and defined between two mutually perpendicular surfaces,
the optical cable comprising at least one optical fiber and a cover surrounding said at least one optical fiber, the cover having a longitudinal axis and an outer surface which in cross-section is in a shape of a trapezoid formed by removing a right-angled isosceles corner region from a right-angled isosceles triangle thereby having a pair of mutually parallel first faces and a pair of non-adjacent mutually perpendicular side faces, the method including: -
laying said optical cable longitudinally along said corner region with one of said first faces facing said corner and said side faces lying against respective ones of said mutually perpendicular surfaces; and
laying at least one electric cable along said corner region, the optical cable lying in a dead space formed between the mutually perpendicular surfaces and the at least one electric cable.
