Abstract

The invention concerns semi-fluorinated alkanes of the general formulae R_FR_H and R_FR_HR_F, R_F being a linear or branched perfluoroalkyl group and R_H being a linear or branched saturated (hydrocarbon)-alkyl group.

1. A method for making a medication for use in ophthalmology, comprising dissolving an ophthalmologic medicament in a semi-fluorinated alkane of the general formula

2. A method for making a retinal tamponade, comprising dissolving a semi-fluorinated alkane of the general formula:

3. A method for washing-out or diluting silicone oil in an eye which had a silicone oil retinal tamponade, comprising applying an effective amount of a semi-fluorinated alkane of the general formula

4. A method for the unfolding of a folded retina, comprising applying an effective amount of a semi-fluorinated alkane of the general formula

5. A method for performing laser coagulation on the retina, comprising applying an effective amount of a semi-fluorinated alkane of the general formula
