1. An ink for forming a print image having an optical density on a recording medium by an ink-jet method, wherein the ink comprises at least one salt selected from the group consisting of (M1)2SO4, CH3COO(M1), Ph—
- COO(M1), (M1)NO3, (M1)Cl, (M1)Br, (M1)I, (M1)2SO3, and (M1)2CO3, wherein M1 is an alkali metal, ammonium or organic ammonium and Ph is a phenyl group, and a self dispersing carbon black; and
wherein the concentration of the carbon black is such that the optical density of the image cannot be obtained when no salt is contained in the ink.

an ink storing section for storing the ink according to claim 1, and a recording unit equipped with the section for ejecting the ink.

an ink storing section for storing aqueous ink comprising at least one coloring material selected from coloring materials for cyan, for magenta, for yellow, for red, for green and for blue, an ink storing section for storing the ink according to claim 1 and head sections for respectively ejecting the ink stored in individual ink storing sections.

32. An image recording apparatus comprising:

an ink cartridge equipped with an ink storing section for storing aqueous ink comprising at least one coloring material selected from coloring materials for cyan, for magenta, for yellow, for red, for green and for blue, an ink cartridge equipped with an ink storing section for storing the ink according to claim 1, head sections for respectively ejecting the ink stored in individual ink storing sections, and supply means for supplying individual types of the ink from the respective ink cartridges to the respective head sections.

33. An image recording method comprising the steps of ejecting the ink according to claim 1, toward a recording medium surface and depositing the ink on the recording medium surface for the recording of an image.

34. The image recording method according to claim 33, wherein energy for ejecting the ink is thermal energy.

36. A color image forming method comprising the steps of:

ejecting a first aqueous ink comprising at least one coloring material selected from coloring materials for cyan, for magenta, for yellow, for red, for green and for blue toward a surface of a recording medium and depositing the ink to the surface; and
ejecting a second ink according to any one of claim 1 toward a surface of a recording medium and depositing the ink to the surface.
