a force member extending from the second device and oriented to rotate the first device relative to the second device.

1. An axis alignment feature for adjusting the angular orientation of a first device to a second device from which the first device is pliantly suspended, the axis alignment feature comprising:

a torsion member fixedly disposed between the first and second devices; and

3. The axis alignment feature recited in claim 2, wherein said rotational force is exerted on said torsion member.

4. The axis alignment feature recited in claim 3, wherein said rotational force is generated by expanding said force member.

5. The axis alignment feature recited in claim 4, wherein said force member is expanded by inducing a temperature differential within said force member.

6. The axis alignment feature recited in claim 5, wherein said temperature differential is induced by heating said force member.

7. The axis alignment feature recited in claim 6, wherein said force member includes a high resistance conductive path deposited thereon;

further comprising a rotational drive circuit electrically coupled to said high resistance conductive path.

8. The axis alignment feature recited in claim 7, further comprising one or more transmission members extending between an end of said force member opposite the second device and said torsion member, said transmission members transmitting a multiple of said rotational force to said torsion member.

9. The axis alignment feature recited in claim 8, wherein said one or more transmission members comprise one or more struts formed in said epitaxial layer.

10. The axis alignment feature recited in claim 8, wherein said one or more transmission members comprise one or more levers formed in said epitaxial layer.

11. The axis alignment feature recited in claim 7, wherein said force member further comprises one or more beams, each said beam having a high resistance conductive path deposited thereon.

12. The axis alignment feature recited in claim 11, wherein said torsion member is formed in a substrate having an epitaxial layer on one surface thereof;

wherein each said beam is formed in said epitaxial layer.

wherein said rotational drive circuit generates a rotational drive signal in one of said beams.

a torsionally compliant flexure which is relatively non-compliant in orthogonal axes, the torsionally compliant flexure extending between the device and the frame from which the device is pliantly suspended; and
