Abstract

The present invention provides a method for chronic treatment of congestive heart failure (CHF) in a patient having CHF, by administering daily, over the long-term, an amount of T₃ effective to treat the CHF.

Claims

1. A method for treating congestive heart failure (CHF) in a patient having CHF, comprising the long-term administration to the patient an amount of T₃ effective to treat CHF in the patient.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein T₃ is administered daily.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein T₃ is administered at a dose between about 5 μ

g/day and about 50 μ

g/day.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein T₃ is administered at a dose between about 15 μ

g/day and about 30 μ

g/day.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein T₃ is administered for at least three weeks.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein T₃ is administered orally.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein T₃ is administered once daily in a sustained-release formulation.

8. A method for treating congestive heart failure (CHF) in a patient having CHF, comprising the long-term administration to the patient of an amount of T₃ effective to treat CHF in the patient, wherein T₃ is administered daily at a dose between about 5 μ

g/day and about 50 μ

g/day.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein T₃ is administered for at least three weeks.

10. The method of claim 8, wherein T₃ is administered orally.

11. The method of claim 8, wherein T₃ is administered once daily, in a sustained-release formulation.

12. A method for treating congestive heart failure (CHF) in a patient having CHF, comprising the long-term administration to the patient of an amount of T₃ effective to treat CHF in the patient, wherein T₃ is administered daily at a dose between about 15 μ

g/day and about 30 μ

g/day.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein T₃ is administered for at least three weeks.

14. The method of claim 12, wherein T₃ is administered orally.

15. The method of claim 12, wherein T₃ is administered once daily in a sustained-release formulation.
