Abstract
An electrode (1) having an active surface for contacting an electrolyte. The electrode (1) comprises first and second metallic materials (2, 3) arranged to provide a number of first metallic material to second metallic material interfaces at the active surface. The invention also relates to a method of making such an electrode (1) and to an electrolysis cell provided with such an electrode (1).

An electrode having an active surface for contacting and electrolyte comprising first and second metallic materials arranged to provide a plurality of first metallic material to second metallic material interfaces at said active surface, wherein said first metallic material comprises steel and said second metallic material comprises nickel.

A method of making an electrode having an active surface for contacting an electrolyte, comprising plating a substrate of a first metallic material with a second metallic material, wherein the first metallic material comprises steel and the second metallic material comprises nickel and in that regions of the plated second metallic material are removed to create said active surface with a plurality of first metallic material to second metallic material interfaces.
