Abstract

A regenerative type of refrigeration system recirculates a mixture of R-134a, R-32 and R-125 through first and second series condensers. A first vortex tube is connected to the inlet of the first condenser and a second vortex tube is connected at the outlet of the first condenser to provide a vapor path from a compressor through the condensers to an expansion device and evaporator. The liquid inlet of a first vortex tube and a liquid outlet of a second vortex tube are connected together to define a closed recirculation path around the first condenser for liquified R-134a.

Claims

1. A refrigeration system comprising:

a compressor;

a condenser having an input and an output;

an expansion device;

an evaporator, wherein said compressor, said condenser, said expansion device, and said evaporator are connected in a closed circuit and a mixture of at least a first refrigerant fluid having a first boiling point and a second refrigerant fluid having a second boiling point is circulated around said closed circuit;

a separator connected to said output of said condenser, said separator having an inlet and a first outlet in series with said closed circuit, and having a second outlet; and

a closed regeneration path connected to said second outlet of said separator and connected to said input of said condenser, said closed regeneration path recirculating a condensed fluid of one of said refrigerant fluids.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein said separator is a liquid-vapor separator, said first outlet of said liquid-vapor separator is a vapor outlet and said second outlet of said liquid-vapor separator is a liquid outlet.

The system of claim 2, further comprising a vortex tube, said vortex tube having a vortex tube inlet, a vapor outlet and a liquid inlet, wherein said vortex tube inlet is connected to said compressor, said vapor outlet of said vortex tube is connected to said input of said condenser, wherein said closed regeneration path is connected to said input of said condenser through said liquid inlet of said vortex tube.

The system of claim 2, further comprising a venturi tube, said venturi tube having a venturi tube inlet, a vapor outlet and a liquid inlet, wherein said venturi tube inlet is connected to said compressor, said vapor outlet of said venturi tube is connected to said input of said condenser, wherein said closed regeneration path is connected to said input of said condenser through said liquid inlet of said venturi tube.

5. The system of claim 2, wherein said liquid-vapor separator is a vortex tube.

The system of claim 2, wherein said condenser is a first condenser, said system further comprising a second condenser having an input and output in series with said closed circuit, said output of said first condenser connected to said inlet of said liquid-vapor separator and said input of said second condenser connected to said vapor outlet of said liquid-vapor separator.

7. The system of claim 6, wherein said mixture is R-32, R-125 and R-134a.

8. The system of claim 6, wherein said first refrigerant fluid is R-134a, said R-134a is at least partly liquified in said first condenser and liquid R-134a is recirculated through said closed regeneration path.

9. The system of claim 1, wherein said separator is a liquid-liquid separator, said first outlet of said separator is a liquid outlet and said second outlet of said separator is a liquid outlet.

The system of claim 1, further comprising a vortex tube, said vortex tube having a vortex tube inlet, a vapor outlet and a liquid inlet, wherein said vortex tube inlet is connected to said compressor, said vapor outlet of said vortex tube is connected to said input of said condenser, wherein said closed regeneration path is connected to said input of said condenser through said liquid inlet of said vortex tube.

The system of claim 1, further comprising a venturi tube, said venturi tube having a venturi tube inlet, a vapor outlet and a liquid inlet, wherein said venturi tube inlet is connected to said compressor, said vapor outlet of said venturi tube is connected to said input of said condenser, wherein said closed regeneration path is connected to said input of said condenser through said liquid inlet of said venturi tube.

12. The system of claim 1, further comprising a valve in said closed regeneration path.

13. The system of claim 1, further comprising a pump in said closed regeneration path.

14. The system of claim 1, wherein said separator is a vortex tube.

15. The system of claim 1, wherein said first refrigerant fluid is recirculated in said closed regeneration path.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein said first boiling point is higher than said second boiling point.

17. The system of claim 1, wherein said first refrigerant fluid is R-134a, said R-134a is at least partly liquified in said condenser and liquid R-134a is recirculated through said closed regeneration path.

18. The system of claim 1, wherein said mixture comprises R-32, R-125 and R-134a.

19. A refrigeration system comprising:

a compressor;

a condenser having an input and an output;

an expansion device;

an evaporator, wherein said compressor, said condenser, said expansion device, and said evaporator are connected in a closed circuit and a mixture of at least a first refrigerant fluid having a first boiling point and a second refrigerant fluid having a second boiling point are circulated around said closed circuit;

a liquid-vapor separator connected to said output of said condenser, said separator having an inlet and vapor outlet connected in series with said closed circuit, and having a liquid outlet;

a closed regeneration path connected to said liquid outlet of said liquid-vapor separator and connected to said input of said condenser, said closed regeneration path recirculating a condensed fluid of one of said refrigerant fluids;

a valve connected in series with said closed regeneration path; and

a pump connected in series with said closed regeneration path.

20. The system of claim 19, wherein said first refrigerant fluid is recirculated in said closed regeneration path.

21. The system of claim 20, wherein said first boiling point is higher than said second boiling point.

22. The system of claim 19, wherein said first refrigerant fluid is R-134a, said R-134a is at least partly liquified in said condenser and liquid R-134a is recirculated through said closed regeneration path.

23. The system of claim 19, wherein said mixture comprises R-32, R-125 and R-134a.

24. The system of claim 19, wherein said condenser is a first condenser, said system further comprising a second condenser having an input and output in series with said closed circuit, said output of said first condenser connected to said inlet of said liquid-vapor separator and said input of said second condenser connected to said vapor outlet of said liquid-vapor separator.

25. The system of claim 24, wherein said first refrigerant fluid is R-134a, said R-134a is at least partly liquified in said first condenser and liquid R-134 a is recirculated through said closed regeneration path.

26. The system of claim 24, wherein said mixture comprises R-32, R-125 and R-134a.

27. The method of operating a refrigeration system, said system having a closed circuit including a compressor, a first condenser having an inlet, a liquid-vapor separator having a liquid outlet, a second condenser, an expansion device, and an evaporator, said system further having a closed regeneration path connected to said liquid outlet of said liquid-vapor separator and connected to said input of said first condenser, said method comprising the acts of:

circulating a mixture of at least a first refrigerant fluid having a first boiling point and a second refrigerant fluid having a second boiling point around said closed circuit;

partially liquifying at least one of said refrigerant fluids in said first condenser;

recirculating said at least one liquified refrigerant fluids in said closed recirculation path;

passing another of said at least one refrigerant fluids through said second condenser, while said another of said at least one refrigerant fluids is mostly in a vapor state; and

partially liquifying said another of said at least one of said refrigerant fluids in said second condenser.

28. The method of claim 27, wherein said recirculating step further comprises recirculating said first refrigerant fluid in said closed regeneration path.

29. The method of claim 28, wherein said first boiling point is higher than said second boiling point.

30. The method of claim 27, wherein said recirculating step further comprises recirculating R-134a in said closed regeneration path.

31. The method of claim 27, wherein said second refrigerant fluid is selected from the group consisting of R-32 and R-125.
