Abstract

An editing system having a controller for setting reproducing speed on the basis of reproducing speed data inputted via a user interface to a desired event allows e.g., slow-playback to be set to the desired event and so further realistic image can be easily generated. Thus, an editing system capable of high-speed real-time edition and having further improved usability can be realized. Moreover, when an in point of first video data (V2) is specified, the editing system starts a reproducing operation from a position that is a fixed time before the position of the specified in point and displays thus reproduced second video data (V3) on a display (2b), so that if the specification of the in point is late, the in point can be easily corrected by monitoring the reproducing second video data. As a result, an editing system capable of high-speed real-time edition and having further improved usability can be realized.

Claims

1. An editing system having a recording/reproducing device and a computer, wherein:

said recording/reproducing device comprises,

recording means for recording source video data supplied from an external device on a recording medium,

reproducing means for reproducing the source video data recorded on said recording medium responding to a reproducing command from said computer while said source video data is recorded on said recording medium, and

output means for outputting said source video data recorded on said recording medium to said computer as the first video data, as well as outputting said source video data reproduced by said reproducing means to said computer as the second video data; and

said computer comprises,

user interface means,

display means, and

control means for displaying the clipped image data of the in point or the out point of events formed from said first or second video data based on the in point and the out point specified via said user interface means, and setting reproducing speed to the desired event specified via said user interface means among the events based on the reproducing speed data inputted via said user interface means.

2. The editing system according to claim 1, wherein;

said user interface means has a rotary encoder or a slide encoder for inputting said reproducing speed data.

3. The editing system according to claim 1, wherein;

said control means sets reproducing speed in frame unit to the specified event.

4. The editing system according to claim 1, wherein,

said control means makes said display means display a reproducing speed setting area, said reproducing speed setting area comprising:

a scale displaying part for displaying a scale showing the length from in point to out point of the specified event;

a position displaying part showing the position to where reproducing speed is now being set in an event, by the display position of an icon on the basis of said scale;

an in-point time code displaying part showing the time code of in points of the events; and

an out-point time code displaying part showing the time code of out points of the events.

5. An editing system having a recording/reproducing device and a computer, wherein:

said recording/reproducing device comprises,

recording means for recording source video data supplied from an external device on a recording medium,

reproducing means for reproducing the source video data recorded on said recording medium responding to a reproducing command from said computer while said source video data is being recorded on said recording medium, and

output means for outputting said source video data recorded on said recording medium to said computer as the first video data, and outputting said source video data reproduced by said reproducing means to said computer as the second video data; and

said computer comprises,

user interface means,

display means for displaying said first video data, and

control means, if the in point of said first video data is specified via said user interface means, for outputting a reproducing command to start reproducing operation from a position fixed time before than the above in point position.

6. The editing system according to claim 5, wherein;

if the in point and the out point of said second video data are specified via said user interface means, said control means registers the period from the in point to the out point as an event.

7. The editing system according to claim 5, wherein;

if starting of a preroll mode is being specified via said user interface means, said control means outputs said reproducing command to said recording/reproducing device corresponding to the in point of said first video data.

8. The editing system according to claim 5, wherein;

said control means computes a reproducing starting point based on queue-up time previously inputted via said user interface means and a time code showing the position of the specified in point, and outputs said reproducing command to start reproducing operation from the reproducing starting point to said recording/reproducing device.

9. An editing system including a recording/reproducing device for recording/reproducing source video data and a computer for controlling recording and reproducing on the recording/reproducing device, wherein:

said recording/reproducing device comprises,

recording means for recording said source video data on a recording medium, and

reproducing means for reproducing the source video data recorded on said recording medium responding to a reproducing command from said computer while said source video data is being recorded on said recording medium; and

said computer comprises,

user interface means,

display means for displaying images of said source video data and the video data reproduced from said recording medium and a graphical image concerning with said user interface,

display control means for making said display means display a time-line displaying area in which plural events formed from said source video data or said reproduced video data are aligned on time base order from the event first by specified via said user interface means, and a program view area used to view the clipped images of the in points or the out points of respective events aligned on said time line, and

editing means for forming an edition list for editing the source video data recorded on said recording medium in the sequence of events aligned in said time-line displaying area, and forming the desired final video program according to the edition list by controlling reproduction of said recording/reproducing device, wherein,

said display control means, if a program readout instruction is inputted via said user interface means, reads out a program formed in a different mode to said time-line displaying area and reads out the clipped image data of the above program formed in a different mode to said program view area.

10. The editing system according to claim 9, wherein;

said control means controls so that said clipped image data are displayed in said program view area in the same sequence as the events displayed in said time-line displaying area.

11. An editing system having a recording/reproducing device and a computer, wherein:

said recording/reproducing device comprises,

recording means for recording source video data supplied from an external device on a recording medium,

reproducing means for reproducing the source video data recorded on said recording medium responding to a reproducing command from said computer while said source video data is being recorded on said recording medium, and

output means for outputting said source video data recorded on said recording medium to said computer as the first video data, and outputting said source video data reproduced by said reproducing means to said computer as the second video data; and

said computer comprises,

user interface means,

display means, and

control means for making said display means display either of the following modes by switching according to mode switching specified via said user interface means,

a picture mode for displaying on said display means an event displaying area in which the clipped image data of in points and out points of events formed from said first or second video data are shown based on an in point and an out point specified via said user interface means, and a program displaying area in which the clipped image data of in points or out points of respective events of a program formed by aligning desired events according to the sequence of events specified via said user interface means are shown; and

a time-line mode for displaying on said display means said event displaying area, and a time-line displaying area in which the temporal length of each event in a program formed by aligning desired events according to the sequence of events specified via said user interface means is shown by the size of display area, wherein,

said control means further displays a recording video displaying area showing said first video data and a reproducing video displaying area showing said second video data on said display means.

12. The editing system according to claim 11, wherein,

said control means further displays the following areas on said display means in the picture mode:

a recording video marking area used to specify an in point and an out point to said first video data; and

a reproducing video marking area used to specify an in point and an out point to said second video data.

13. The editing system according to claim 11, wherein,

said control means further displays the following areas on said display means in the time-line mode:

a recording video marking area used to specify an in point and an out point to said first video data;

a reproducing video marking area used to specify an in point and an out point to said second video data; and

an edit-tool displaying part used to specify a command used to edit a program in said time-line displaying area.

14. The editing system according to claim 11, wherein;

said time-line displaying area has a video editing area in which the temporal length of each event is shown by the size of display area, and a time-scale displaying part showing a time scale being the basis of temporal length.
