Abstract
A roof-mounted wind turbine includes turbine vanes that are linear-shaped and do not have the conventional convex curvature. Additionally, the turbine vanes are made in common with one another or with a common turbine component, so that each vane does not require individual handling nor individual attachment to the turbine assembly as is required in the construction of conventional wind turbines that are commercially available today. This is accomplished by producing the vanes by molding or extruding techniques that are commonly used in making plastic assemblies or components.

8. A wind turbine ventilator assembly as set forth in claim 1, further comprising:
an air scoop assembly including a plurality of air scoop impeller blades attached to the turbine for inducing a mechanical turning moment in the turbine in response to the convection flow of hot air that rises through the turbine air flow passage.
-
9. A wind turbine ventilator assembly as set forth in claim 1, including a plurality of vertical section panels mounted on the turbine head and located within the turbine interior passage, the vertical section panels partitioning the turbine passage to distribute the flow of exhaust air substantially evenly through exhaust ports located between adjacent vane members.
-
10. A wind turbine ventilator assembly as set forth in claim 1, including an internal exhaust air diffuser disposed in the turbine flow chamber, the air diffuser including a sloping sidewall defining a flow passage having a gradually diminishing flow area through the turbine chamber, thereby causing the exhaust air to move radially toward the turbine vanes as it flows through the throat of the turbine.
-
11. A wind turbine ventilator assembly as set forth in claim 10, wherein the sloping sidewall includes a linearly sloping sidewall portion and a curved sidewall portion, wherein the curved sidewall portion forms a concave surface which redirects the flow of exhaust air from a direction generally in parallel with the longitudinal axis of the turbine to a direction generally radially toward the vanes.
-
12. A wind turbine ventilator assembly as set forth in claim 10, in which the air diffuser is a cone.
-
13. A wind turbine ventilator assembly as set forth in claim 10, in which the air diffuser comprises a first section and a second section, the first diffuser section is attached to the crown member and the second diffuser section is attached to the mounting bracket.

14. A wind turbine ventilator assembly as set forth in claim 1, each turbine vane including three segments arranged generally in a Y configuration in radial section, with two of the segments forming a pocket for capturing incident ambient wind currents, and the other segment forming a venturi passage in combination with an adjacent vane segment.
-
15. A wind turbine ventilator assembly as set forth in claim 1, including a cover removably attached to the crown portion of the turbine for shielding the spindle and bearing assembly.

a turbine head coupled to the mounting bracket for rotation about an axis, the turbine head including;
a base member;
a crown member;
multiple vanes extending between the base member and the crown member; and
,an internal exhaust air diffuser disposed in the turbine flow chamber, the air diffuser including a sloping sidewall defining a flow passage having a gradually diminishing air flow area through the turbine chamber, thereby directing the exhaust air toward the turbine vanes as it flows through the throat of the turbine, the sloping sidewall including a linear sidewall portion and a curved sidewall portion, wherein the curved sidewall portion forms a concave surface which redirects the flow of exhaust air from a direction generally in parallel with the longitudinal axis of the turbine to a direction generally radially toward the vanes.
