A method of improving the efficiency of a compressor driven system for removing heat using a compressible liquid refrigerant consisting of a member of the group CFC, HCFC and HFC comprising the step of introducing a lubricant composition into the compressor of the system, wherein said lubricant composition comprises a sulfur containing polar compound and a polyol ester wherein said sulfur containing polar compound is a liquid sulfur containing polar compound containing 6-24 carbon atoms and 1 to 12 sulfur atoms.
