- defining plural viewing channels;
on certain of said channels, providing television programs;
on at least one of said channels, providing interactive video entertainment, said interactive video enternent comprising at least one of the following;
interactive news, interactive celebrity chat, an interactive game, or an interactive jukebox; and
presenting the interactive video entertainment with television-like techniques, said television-like techniques comprising at least one of the following techniques;
overscanning, dissolves, and wipes;
wherein said television programs and said interactive video entertainment are received multiplexed as first and second signals on a bi-directional network, and a third signal is transmitted on the bi-direconal network, the third sipal comprising an interactive content indication.

receiving a composite signal comprising plural viewing channels modulated onto separate frequencies;
on certain of said channels, providing television programs;
on at least one of said channels, providing interive video entertainment, said ertertainment including HTML primitives to be rendered by a client terminal;
receiving said television programs and said interactive video entertainment multiplexed as first and second signals on a bi-directional network;
when switching away from an interactive video entertainment channel, storing state imformation associated with said interactive video entertainment channel; and
when thereafter switching back to said interactive video entertainment channel, restoring said state information and sending a third signal out on the bi-directional network, the third signal comprising an interactive content indication;
wherein a user can easily resume an earlier-commenced activity on said interactive video entertainment channel. - View Dependent Claims (13)

wherein a subscriber encounters television programming and interactive video entertainment in a seamless context and said television programs and said interactive video entertainment are received multiplexed as first and second signals on a bi-directional network, and a third signal is transmitted on the bi-directional network, the third signal comprising an interactive content indication.

on at least one of said channels, providing interactive video entertainment, said interactive video entertainment comprising an interactive game channel;
wherein said television programs and said interactive video entertainment are received on the composite signal as plural signals on the bi-directional network, and an additional signal is sent out on the bi-directional network, the additional signal comprising an interactive game control indication.

receiving a composite signal comprising plural viewing channels modulated onto separate frequencies on a bi-directional network;
on certain of said channels, providing television programs; and

wherein sad television programs and said interactive video entertainment are received on the composite signal as plural signals on the bi-directional network, and an additionl signal is transmitted on the bi-directional network, the additional signal comprising an interactive jukebox control indication.

transmitting multiple channels simultaneously on a combined signal on a bi-directional network;
on certain of said channels, providing television programs; and

receiving a second input signal comprising interactive video entertainment;
transmitting multiple channels on a composite signal comprising content from said first and second input signals;

on at least one of said channels, providing interactive video entertainment;

29. A method of displaying interactive video content and television programming at a client through interactions with a remote server over a duplex network, the method comprising:

receiving on the duplex network, a composite signal comprising plural viewing channels and displaying a viewing channel comprising television programming;
receiving a control signal from an input device, said control signal comprising a change channel request, and displaying a viewing channel comprising interactive video content;
receiving a control signal om the input device, said control signal comprising an interactive response from a user viewing the interactive video content; and
transmitting to the remote server over the duplex network, an indication of the interactive response;
wherein, a television program represents a first signal received by the client from the remote server, the interactive video content represents a second signal received by the client from the remote server, and the indication of the interactive response represents a third signal sent to the remote server from the client. - View Dependent Claims (30, 31, 32)
subsequent to transmitting the indication to the remote server, displaying on the interactive video content viewing channel, content that is altered in response to the indication.
