1. A mobile communication device having speech recognition functionality and comprising:

  • a memory for storing a set of speech recognition templates corresponding to a set of respective spoken commands, each template corresponding to a human language;

    transducer means for converting a spoken command into an electrical signal;

    signal processing means for analyzing a converted spoken command together with templates stored in said memory to identify whether or not the converted spoken command corresponds with one of said set of spoken commands; and

    means for receiving via a wireless transmission channel said set of templates an for storing said templates in said memory;

    aid templates received via said wireless transmission being speaker independent.
