- a first flange;
a first arm extending upwardly from the first flange at an obtuse angle;
a second flange;
a second arm extending upwardly from the second flange at nearly a right angle and to the first arm, the juncture of the first and second arms defining a ridge; and
means for draining water through the first flange and first arm and through the second flange and second arm.

Several alternate embodiments of battens are shown, along with a schematic illustration of a punch process for making the metal battens of the present invention. The batten elements all include holes or tunnels for the drainage of water through the batten elements. The alternate embodiments are shown in cross section or end view.
