1. A liquid crystal display comprising:

  • a first substrate;

    a second substrate;

    a liquid crystal layer between the first substrate and the second substrate;

    a plurality of gate bus lines and data bus lines over the first substrate defining a plurality of pixel regions;

    a plurality of common bus lines, at least one common bus line intersecting at least one pixel region;

    a first insulative layer over the at least one common bus line in the pixel region;

    a data electrode over the first insulative layer, a portion of the data electrode overlying the common bus line to form a first capacitor;

    a second insulative layer over the data electrode; and

    a common electrode over the second insulative layer, a portion of the common electrode overlying the data electrode to form a second capacitor, the common electrode having a plurality of openings formed therein, at least one of the openings having a shape in the form of a polygon.
