1. A method of delivering a bioactive agent to a patient comprising:
- administering to the patient, by intravenous or intra-arterial infusion, a composition comprising cochleate vesicles comprising an anionic lipid, a cationic counter ion, a lipid covalently bonded to a polymer and a bioactive agent; and
applying therapeutic ultrasound to the patient to facilitate delivery of the bioactive agent in a desired region of the patient, wherein said cochleate vesicles are under 2 μ
m in size.
