Method and system for monitoring power output in transceivers
First Claim
1. A method for monitoring output transmit power of transceivers in a radiocommunication system comprising the steps of:
- measuring a first received signal quality associated with a measurement channel being transmitted by a base station;
measuring a second received signal quality associated with a traffic channel being transmitted by said base station;
determining a difference between said first and second received signal qualities; and
, using said difference to monitor an output power of a transceiver of said base station.

Abstract
A method and system for monitoring output power of transceivers in radiocommunication systems are described. By evaluating a statistic associated with pre- and post handoff received signals, information can be gathered regarding the transmit power operating characteristic of various transceivers. For example, by measuring the received signal strength of a neighboring base station'"'"'s control channel prior to handoff and comparing that with the received signal strength of a traffic channel transmitted by the same base station after handoff, the system can acquire information regarding the power output of a base station transceiver. Over time, the system can determine whether one or more power settings associated with that transceiver needs adjustment.
