Abstract

A set of interactive toys that perform a sequence of actions in response to one another without external activation other than an initial actuation to begin the sequence of actions. Preferably, each toy has an activation switch and/or a receiver for a wireless signal such as an infrared signal which activates the toy. Upon activation, the toy performs a desired action, such as the enunciation of a speech pattern, and signals another toy to perform a responsive action. Preferably, the toy are capable of performing several different action sequences, such as the enunciation of different conversations, the performance of different movements, etc. Additionally, the toys are programmable by a remote control device. The remote control device either functions as an activation switch, initiating a random or predetermined (yet not user determined) sequence of interactions, or as an interaction selector, such that a desired sequence of actions may be selected.

Claims

1. An interactive set of toys, comprising:

an activation device having a first action performing device which is operative to emit a sound signal;

a sound producing element having a second action performing device which is operative to emit a sound signal;

a first signal generator associated with the first action performing device, the first signal generator being operative to generate a first signal;

a first signal transmitter associated with the first signal generator, the first signal transmitter being operative to transmit the first signal;

a first signal receiver associated with the second action performing device, the first signal receiver being operative to receive the first signal from the first signal transmitter to activate the second action performing device;

a second signal generator associated with the second action performing device, the second signal generator being operative to generate a second signal upon the activation of the second action performing device;

a second signal transmitter associated with the second signal generator, the second signal transmitter being operative to transmit the second signal; and

a second signal receiver associated with the first action performing device, the second signal receiver being operative to receive the second signal from the second signal transmitter to activate the first action performing device.

2. The interactive toys of claim 1 wherein the sound producing element is a musical instrument.

3. The interactive toys of claim 1 wherein the first signal generator is configured to generate the first signal subsequent to the sound signal being emitted from the first action performing device.

4. The interactive toys of claim 1 wherein the sound signal emitted by each of the activation device and the sound producing element is at least one of an audible tone, a voice message, and a musical piece.

5. An interactive set of toys, comprising:

an activation device having a first action performing device;

a sound producing element having a second action performing device which is operative to emit a sound signal;

a first signal generator associated with the first action performing device, the first signal generator being operative to generate a first signal;

a first signal transmitter associated with the first signal generator, the first signal transmitter being operative to transmit the first signal;

a first signal receiver associated with the second action performing device, the first signal receiver being operative to receive the first signal from the first signal transmitter to activate the second action performing device;

a second signal generator associated with the second action performing device, the second signal generator being operative to generate a second signal upon the activation of the second action performing device;

a second signal transmitter associated with the second signal generator, the second signal transmitter being operative to transmit the second signal; and

a second signal receiver associated with the first action performing device, the second signal receiver being operative to receive the second signal from the second signal transmitter to activate the first action performing device.

6. The interactive toys of claim 5 wherein the sound producing element is a musical instrument.

7. The interactive toys of claim 5 wherein the sound signal is at least one of an audible tone, a voice message, and a musical piece.

8. An interactive set of toys, comprising:

an activation device having;

a first action performing device;

a first signal generator associated with the first action performing device, the first signal generator being operative to generate a first signal;

a first signal transmitter associated with the first signal generator, the first signal transmitter being operative to transmit the first signal; and

a second signal receiver associated with the first action performing device;

at least two sound producing elements, each of the sound producing elements having;

a second action performing device which is operative to emit a sound signal;

a first signal receiver associated with the second action performing device, the first signal receiver being operative to receive the first signal from the first signal transmitter to activate the second action performing device;

a second signal generator associated with the second action performing device, the second signal generator being operative to generate a second signal upon the activation of the second action performing device; and

a second signal transmitter associated with the second signal generator, the second signal transmitter being operative to transmit the second signal;

the second signal receiver of the first action performing device being operative to receive the second signal from the second signal transmitter of each of the sound producing elements to activate the first action performing device.

9. The interactive toys of claim 8 wherein each of the sound producing elements is a musical instrument.

10. The interactive toys of claim 8 wherein the sound signal emitted by each of the sound producing elements is at least one of an audible tone, a voice message, and a musical piece.

11. A method of causing a set of toys to perform an interactive sequence of actions, the method comprising the steps of:

activating an activation device to perform a first desired action;

generating a first signal identifying the first desired action performed;

transmitting the first signal to a sound producing element;

causing the first signal to activate the sound producing element to perform a second desired action responsive to the first desired action;

generating a second signal identifying the second desired action performed;

transmitting the second signal to the activation device;

causing the second signal to activate the activation device to perform a third desired action responsive to the second desired action;

generating a third signal identifying the third desired action performed;

transmitting the third signal to the sound producing element; and

causing the third signal to activate the sound producing element to perform a fourth desired action responsive to the third desired action.

12. The method of claim 11 wherein the second and fourth desired actions comprise the performance of a musical piece.

13. The method of claim 11 wherein the first, second, third and fourth desired actions comprise the performance of a musical piece.

14. A method of causing a set of toys to perform an interactive sequence of actions, the method comprising the steps of:

activating an activation device to perform a first desired action;

generating a first signal identifying the first desired action performed;

transmitting the first signal to a sound producing element;

causing the first signal to activate the sound producing element to perform a second desired action responsive to the first desired action;

generating a second signal identifying the second desired action performed;

transmitting the second signal to the activation device; and

causing the second signal to activate the activation device to perform a third desired action responsive to the second desired action.

15. The method of claim 14 wherein the second desired action comprises performance of a musical piece.

16. The method of claim 14 wherein the second and third desired actions comprise the performance of a musical piece.

17. The method of claim 14 wherein the first, second and third desired actions comprise the performance of a musical piece.

18. The method of claim 14 wherein the first and second desired actions comprise the performance of a musical piece.

19. A method of causing a set of toys to perform an interactive sequence of actions, the method comprising the steps of:

activating an activation device to generate a first signal;

transmitting the first signal to a first sound producing element;

causing the first signal to activate the first sound producing element to perform a first desired action;

generating a second signal identifying the first desired action performed;

transmitting the second signal to the activation device;

causing the second signal to activate the activation device to generate a third signal responsive to the first desired action;

transmitting the third signal to a second sound producing element; and

causing the third signal to activate the second sound producing element to perform a second desired action responsive to the first desired action.

20. The method of claim 19 wherein the first and second desired actions comprise the performance of a musical piece.

21. A method of causing a set of toys to perform an interactive sequence of actions, the method comprising the steps of:

activating an activation device to perform a first desired action;

generating a first signal identifying the first desired action performed;

transmitting the first signal to a first sound producing element;

causing the first signal to activate the first sound producing element to perform a second desired action responsive to the first desired action;

generating a second signal identifying the second desired action performed;

transmitting the second signal to the activation device;

causing the second signal to activate the activation device to perform a third desired action responsive to the second desired action;

generating a third signal identifying the third desired action performed;

transmitting the third signal to a second sound producing element; and

causing the third signal to activate the second sound producing element to perform a fourth desired action responsive to the third desired action.

22. The method of claim 21 wherein the second, third and fourth desired actions comprise the performance of a musical piece.

23. The method of claim 21 wherein the first, second, third and fourth desired actions comprise the performance of a musical piece.

24. The method of claim 21 wherein the second and fourth desired actions comprise the performance of a musical piece.
