Abstract

This invention provides a medical device for delivering volumetric quantities of a first and a second biochemically reactive fluid comprising a first container having an opening, the first container being adapted to contain the first biochemically reactive fluid; a second container having a second fluid opening adjacent the first fluid opening, the second container being adapted to contain the second biochemically reactive fluid; a spray unit for separately atomizing the first and second biochemically reactive fluids into an aerosol with at least one energy source of a liquid energy, a mechanical energy, a vibration energy, and an electric energy; a fluid pressurizer for pressurizing the first and the second biochemically reactive fluids for delivery under pressure through the spray unit onto a surface; and wherein the first and second biochemically reactive fluids first mix on the surface.

Claims

1. A medical device for delivering volumetric quantities of a first and second biochemically active fluid comprising:

a first container being adapted to contain the first biochemically reactive fluid and having a first fluid channel;

a second container being adapted to contain the second biochemically reactive fluid and having a second fluid channel;

an atomizer in fluid communication with the first and second channels for separately atomizing the first and second biochemically reactive fluids into an aerosol with at least one energy source of a liquid energy, a mechanical energy, a vibration energy, and an electric energy;

a fluid pressurizer for delivering a third fluid under pressure to the first container and the second container to deliver the first fluid and the second fluid under pressure to the atomizer; and

a third channel for delivering a catalyst.

2. The device of claim 1 wherein the third channel has an outlet proximate an outlet of the mechanism for delivering a catalyst to the first and second fluids exiting the atomizer.

3. A method for delivering biochemically reactive components to a surface comprising the steps of:

providing a first liquid solution of a first biochemically reactive component;

providing a second liquid solution of a second biochemically reactive component;

providing an atomizer in fluid communication with the first reactive component and the second reactive component, the atomizer being capable of separately atomizing the first reactive component and the second reactive component into an aerosol with at least one energy source of a liquid energy, a mechanical energy, a vibration energy, and an electric energy;

delivering a fluid under pressure to force the first reactive component under pressure to the atomizer to spray the first reactive component without the fluid;

delivering the second reactive component under pressure to the atomizer to spray the second reactive component; and

delivering a catalyst to the first liquid.

4. The method of claim 3 wherein the step of delivering the catalyst to the first liquid is taken after the step of atomizing the first liquid.

5. The method of claim 3 further comprising the step of delivering a catalyst to the first and second liquid.

6. The method of claim 5 wherein the step of delivering the catalyst to the first and second liquid is taken after atomizing the first and second liquid.

7. The method of claim 6 wherein the catalyst is light.

8. The method of claim 6 wherein the catalyst changes the pH of the first and second liquids.

9. The method of claim 3 further providing a channel having an outlet proximate the atomizer, the channel being in communication with a member selected from the group consisting of a biochemically reactive component, an inactivated biochemically reactive component, a catalyst, a wash solution, and a measuring device.

10. A medical device for delivering volumetric quantities of a first and second biochemically reactive fluid comprising:

a first container adapted to contain the first biochemically reactive fluid;

a second container adapted to contain the second biochemically reactive fluid;

an atomizer in fluid communication with the first container and the second container for separately atomizing the first and second biochemically reactive fluids into an aerosol at a first outlet of the atomizer with at least one energy source of a liquid energy, a mechanical energy, a vibration energy, and an electric energy; and

a third channel having a second outlet for providing access to an area proximate the first outlet, wherein the third channel is in communication with a member selected from the group consisting of a biochemically reactive component, an inactivated biochemically reactive component, a catalyst, a wash solution, and a measuring device.

11. The device of claim 10 wherein the catalyst is light.

12. The device of claim 10 wherein the catalyst is a pH modifier.

13. The device of claim 10 wherein the measuring device is for measuring a physical property selected from the group consisting of pH, temperature, pressure, video, sound, ultrasound and moisture content.

14. The device of claim 10 further comprising a fourth channel having a third outlet for providing access to an area proximate the first outlet.

15. The device of claim 14 wherein the fourth channel is in communication with a member selected from the group consisting of a biochemically reactive component, an inactivated biochemically reactive component, a catalyst, a wash solution, and a measuring device.

16. A method for delivering biochemically reactive fluids comprising the steps of:

providing a first container of a first biochemically reactive component;

providing a second container of a second biochemically reactive component;

providing an atomizer in fluid communication with the first channel and the second channel for separately atomizing the first and second biochemically reactive fluids into an aerosol with at least one energy source of a liquid energy, a mechanical energy, a vibration energy, and an electric energy;

delivering the first and second fluids under pressure to the atomizer;

mixing the first and second fluids;

providing a catalyst; and

delivering the catalyst to the first and second fluids to influence the reaction between the first and second fluids.

17. The method of claim 16 wherein the first fluid is fibrinogen and the second component is thrombin.

18. The method of claim 16 wherein the step of delivering the catalyst is taken after the step of mixing.

19. The method of claim 18 wherein the step of delivering the catalyst is taken before the step of mixing.

20. The method of claim 18 wherein the catalyst is electromagnetic radiation.

21. The method of claim 18 wherein the catalyst is a buffer solution.
