1. An arm for locating a tool setting probe on a machine tool, comprising:

  • a pair of contacts on the arm which provide electrical connection between the arm and a machine controller, wherein the machine controller supplies power to the arm;

    a signal conditioning circuit located inside the arm to supply power to the probe and to convert a signal generated by the probe into a signal output; and

    an indicator on the arm which provides a visual indication of the signal output and also provides an indication that is identifiable by the machine controller.
