1. A disposable, single use personal cleansing article especially useful for cleansing skin or hair, which article comprising:
- (a) a water insoluble nonwoven substrate comprised of fibers having at least one cleansing surface, wherein the cleansing surface of said substrate contains a plurality of apertures which range in size from about 1.5 to 5 mm in diameter and which are located within said cleansing surface of said subtrate at a frequency of from about 2 to about 12 per linear centimeter; and
(b) from about 0.5% to about 250% by weight of said substrate of a lathering surfactant releasably associated with said substrate.

Abstract
The present invention relates to disposable, personal cleansing articles useful for cleansing the skin or hair. These articles are used by the consumer by wetting the dry article with water and then rubbing the article against the skin or hair. The article comprises a water insoluble substrate having a cleansing surface that contains apertures of a certain size and frequency, and a lathering surfactant releasably associated with the substrate. Preferably, the articles of the present invention further comprise a conditioning component.

1. A disposable, single use personal cleansing article especially useful for cleansing skin or hair, which article comprising:

(a) a water insoluble nonwoven substrate comprised of fibers having at least one cleansing surface, wherein the cleansing surface of said substrate contains a plurality of apertures which range in size from about 1.5 to 5 mm in diameter and which are located within said cleansing surface of said subtrate at a frequency of from about 2 to about 12 per linear centimeter; and

70. A disposable, single use, single ply personal cleansing article especially useful for cleansing skin or hair, which article comprises:

(a) a water insoluble, nonwoven substrate comprised of fibers having at least one cleansing surface, wherein the cleansing surface of said substrate contains a plurality of apertures which range in size from about 2 to 4 mm in diameter and which are located within said cleansing surface of said substrate at a frequency of from about 2 to about 8 per linear centimeter; and
(b) from about 0.5% to about 250% by weight of said substrate of a lathering surfactant releasably associated with said substrate, and (c) from about 0.01% to about 99% of a conditioning agent, wherein the substrate is substantially dry and wherein the apertures are uniformly distributed on the cleansing surface of the substrate and wherein the apertures protrude completely through the substrate to the surface of the substrate which is opposite to the cleansing surface.

71. A disposable, single use, personal cleansing article for cleansing and conditioning the skin, said personal cleansing article being water-activated during use to generate lather, said article comprising:

(a) a water-insoluble, nonwoven substrate comprised of a web fibers, said substrate having at least one cleansing surface containing a plurality of aperture, said apertures ranging in average size from about 0.5 to about 5 mm in diameter and being located within said cleansing surface of said substrate at a frequency of from about 0.5 to about 12 per linear centimeter;
